Here is the location on the Indiana Department of Education's website for the State Standards

http://dc.doe.in.gov/Standards/AcademicStandards/StandardSearch.aspx

For Visual Art Standards, you'll have to go to the right hand side of the subject bar and click the drop down arrow to find Visual Arts. Then select the grade level you're interested in and select "Search".

All units of study completed in the Art Room here at Brown and based on the State Standards for Visual Art.

Art Club Information!

Art Club Information

Art Club will be a group of 10 5th graders who are seeking additional art lessons to prepare for future artistic endeavors. There will be two “rounds” of art club, one for the fall semester and one for the spring semester, so there will be a total of 20 students selected. In Art Club, students will focus on drawing from life, throwing pottery on the wheel, working with color theory, and creating an Art Journal.

Art Club will take place on Tuesday afternoons right after school until 4:45 in the art room (room 103). Students will need to have their own transportation home at 4:45. Fall semester art club will begin October 5 and continue until December 21. Spring semester Art Club will begin January 11 and go thru April 5 (of course the Tuesday over Spring Break will be skipped and our last day will be the following Tuesday).

Completed permission slips are due no later than Monday, September 27. Once I receive all interested student’s permission slips back, I will put those student’s names into a pot and draw 20 names out. Those 20 students will then be notified that they have been selected and also which semester of Art Club they will be assigned to. Students who are not selected will also be notified that all the Art Club spots have been filled.

Printmaking

Instead of working on Egyptian Funeral Mask Self-Portraits for our their first project, the 5th graders are working on a printmaking project inspired by Andy Warhol. Attached are some pictures of the students exploring a website where they can make a Photo Silk-Screen like Warhol did. Also attached are pictures of the students working on creating their prints.
